The Spencer Racial Equity Research Grants 2026 is now open to support impactful education research addressing racial inequality. This funding opportunity is designed for scholars committed to advancing equity through rigorous and innovative research.
At a time when education systems worldwide are grappling with deep-rooted inequalities, the Spencer Foundation is investing in research that doesn’t just study problems but helps reimagine solutions. This grant supports projects that explore how racial inequities in education can be understood, challenged, and ultimately transformed.
With funding of up to $75,000, selected projects can run anywhere from one to five years, giving researchers enough scope to produce meaningful, evidence-based outcomes. What makes this opportunity particularly strong is its flexibility; there is no restriction on specific topics or methodologies. Whether your approach is qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods, the focus remains on generating insights that can drive real change.
The program also welcomes a wide range of research contexts, from early childhood education to higher education, as well as learning environments within families and communities. Priority areas this cycle include mental health for youth and educators, community-based workforce development, and innovative intersections between data-driven methods and racial equity.
If your work connects research with real-world impact, this is the kind of grant that values both intellectual depth and practical relevance.
