AIA NRW Fellowship 2027 in Germany for Scholars and Practitioners (Funding)

Application Deadline: 15 June 2026
The AIA NRW Fellowship 2027 offers an important opportunity for scholars and experienced practitioners interested in international politics, security, and global resilience. Hosted in Germany, this fellowship brings together diverse thinkers to explore how today’s complex geopolitical challenges can be addressed through stronger, more integrated strategies.
If you are passionate about shaping policy ideas around global security, governance, or technological resilience, this program provides a platform to contribute meaningfully while working in an international research environment in Bonn.
The fellowship is built around the theme of “Comprehensive Security for a Changing World”, focusing on how modern societies can strengthen strategic and technological resilience in an era of global uncertainty.
Europe’s shifting political landscape, marked by conflict, competition, and changing alliances, forms the backdrop of this program. Fellows are expected to engage with critical issues such as defence cooperation, democratic stability, critical infrastructure, supply chain security, and the governance of emerging technologies.
What makes this fellowship particularly valuable is its interdisciplinary nature. It connects academic research with real-world professional experience, encouraging participants to think beyond traditional boundaries. Whether through strategic foresight, risk analysis, or policy innovation, selected fellows are expected to contribute fresh perspectives that can influence global conversations on security and resilience.
The program runs from April 2027 to March 2028, and fellows must reside in Bonn, Germany, throughout the fellowship.
