Karsh Journalism Fellowship 2027 in the United States (Stipend)

Application Deadline: September 1, 2026
The Karsh Journalism Fellowship 2027 is now accepting applications from professional journalists and recent journalism school graduates seeking to deepen their reporting through specialized training and meaningful professional engagement. As the world’s only fellowship dedicated exclusively to Jewish issues in journalism, the program offers a unique opportunity to explore complex topics with independence, accuracy, and nuance.
Hosted in the United States, the fellowship combines intensive learning experiences, mentorship from influential leaders, and practical reporting opportunities designed to strengthen public understanding through impactful storytelling.
Each year, the Karsh Journalism Fellowship selects a small cohort of journalists committed to producing thoughtful, high-quality reporting. Fellows take part in three all-expenses-paid retreats held in Los Angeles, New York, and Washington, D.C., where they engage with leading journalists, scholars, policymakers, innovators, and cultural figures shaping conversations around Jewish life and global affairs.
Beyond the in-person experiences, participants attend monthly one-hour Zoom sessions that foster continued dialogue, professional development, and collaboration throughout the fellowship period.
A distinctive aspect of the program is its emphasis on editorial independence. Fellows are expected to publish or produce a reported piece on a Jewish topic of their choice under the guidance of their editors. The fellowship does not influence topic selection or exercise editorial control, reinforcing its commitment to transparency, accountability, and journalistic integrity.
With only up to 10 fellows selected annually, the program provides a highly personalized experience that can expand professional networks, enhance subject-matter expertise, and elevate participants’ reporting careers. For journalists interested in covering underreported issues with greater depth and context, this fellowship represents both a learning opportunity and a platform for meaningful impact.
