Network Rail Community Tree Planting Fund 2026 in the UK (Grant)

Application Deadline: Midnight, Sunday, 19 July 2026

Communities across the UK looking to create greener, healthier spaces can now apply for the Network Rail Community Tree Planting Fund 2026. Delivered through a partnership between The Tree Council and Network Rail, the fund supports local tree planting initiatives that bring environmental, social, and long-term community benefits.

With grants of up to £10,000 available, the programme is designed to help organisations and landowners turn practical ideas into impactful projects that leave a lasting legacy for future generations.

Over the past five years, The Tree Council and Network Rail have worked together to establish more than 400,000 trees in over 100 communities throughout the UK. The Network Rail Community Tree Planting Fund continues this mission by investing in projects that increase tree cover, improve local environments, and encourage community participation in nature-based initiatives.

The fund offers medium-sized grants ranging from £2,500 to £10,000 for eligible projects taking place in England, Scotland, or Wales. Whether you are planning to transform unused land into a thriving community woodland, enhance school grounds, or develop a local planting initiative that strengthens community connections, this funding can help bring your plans to life.

Applicants are encouraged to plan carefully and review the available guidance before submitting their proposals. Strong applications typically demonstrate clear community impact, realistic budgets, and a practical approach to establishing and maintaining newly planted trees.

Round 1 applications close on 19 July 2026. While a second funding round may be considered if resources remain available, this is not guaranteed. Organisations interested in securing support are therefore encouraged to apply as early as possible.
