About the Opportunity
The African Food Fellowship 2026 is a prestigious initiative aimed at building a new generation of leaders committed to transforming Africa’s food systems. The program will select 120 professionals—40 each from Kenya, Rwanda, and Zambia—who are actively working across key impact areas such as climate-smart agriculture, inclusive markets, and access to nutritious food.
Participants will undertake a 10-month Food Systems Leadership Programme (FSLP), delivered primarily online with collaborative assignments, peer learning, and real-world exposure. The fellowship combines leadership training with practical action, enabling fellows to design and implement solutions that address pressing food system challenges in their countries.
In addition to virtual learning, fellows will participate in a three-day in-person module hosted locally and engage with industry experts, organizations, and businesses. Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate from Wageningen University & Research and Wasafiri Consulting, and continue to benefit from a growing network of over 230 fellows.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be between 27–50 years old
- Be a legal resident working in Kenya, Rwanda, or Zambia
- Currently engaged in food systems-related work
- Demonstrate leadership experience in a relevant impact area
- Show commitment to improving food systems in their country
- Be able to communicate effectively in English
- Have availability to commit approximately 4 hours per week
