ERIA School of Government Fellowship 2026 for Policy Experts (Funding)

Application Deadline: May 31, 2026
The ERIA School of Government Fellowship 2026 is now open for applications from experienced researchers, policymakers, academics, and government professionals interested in shaping the future of public policy across ASEAN and East Asia.
Hosted in Jakarta, Indonesia, the fellowship offers a unique opportunity to work closely with the ERIA School of Government and engage with regional institutions, including the ASEAN Secretariat. Beyond financial support, the programme is designed to build a strong network of policy experts committed to solving regional challenges and strengthening governance across Southeast Asia.
The ERIA School of Government (SOG) was established to become one of Southeast Asia’s leading public policy hubs. Through this fellowship, selected fellows will collaborate with researchers and regional stakeholders while contributing meaningful ideas that can influence policy conversations in ASEAN and East Asia.
Fellows will spend between three and eleven months in residence between October 2026 and August 2027. During this period, participants are expected to fully dedicate themselves to their research and fellowship activities. The programme particularly encourages proposals that focus on regional public interests rather than country-specific issues alone.
This opportunity is especially valuable for professionals seeking international policy exposure, deeper regional engagement, and collaboration with experts working on governance, diplomacy, development, and public administration issues in Asia.
Selected fellows will receive financial support of up to USD 5,000 per month during their residency period. The funding is intended to support research activities and living expenses while in Jakarta. Fellows will also gain access to ERIA’s research resources, policy networks, conferences, executive roundtables, and academic events.
Participants will primarily work from the ERIA Annex Office and occasionally at the ERIA Headquarters within the ASEAN Secretariat environment. This provides direct exposure to regional policymaking spaces and valuable networking opportunities with scholars, diplomats, and institutional leaders.
To complete the fellowship successfully, fellows will be expected to:
- Deliver an introductory presentation
- Present their final research publicly
- Publish one policy paper in English based on their project
Applications are open to individuals from all nationalities who have strong policy-related expertise and research interests connected to ASEAN and East Asia.
